Congratulations
We are very proud of all the students who participated in Noblesville on April 21. We would like to compliment our Destination Imagination students who qualified in their division in Indiana to compete in Global. We are proud to send them to Knoxville, Tennessee in a world-wide competition. Good luck to all. Have a lot of fun!
Art Fair
On Thursday, April 19, the community experienced our second annual Art Fair at Tenth Street Elementary School. The evening was coordinated by Mrs. Pixley and a team of parents. Through the efforts of many staff members, parents, and students, the children spent the evening actively engaged in the love and fellowship of art.
While attending the fair, the community was engaged in art centers and games. Artwork from Georges Seurat was on display alongside our students’ work.
We thank the parents and students whose efforts made this possible.
Summer Dress
Warm weather is becoming more regular as each day passes in 2012. Tenth Street Elementary will now allow students to adjust their clothing accordingly. Please keep in mind that any dressing options chosen should not reveal the chest, saddle, or belly areas at any time. Any garments that are creating interference to the educational process will be disallowed.
Shorts will be allowed for all children. When selecting shorts to wear, be sure that the shorts extend well below a stiffened arm. Shorts must fit without sagging below the waist or revealing any part of the body that is deemed discrete.
Tops for children should cover the shoulder blade and not gap. Muscle shirts and spaghetti straps are only allowed if covered by another shirt. No tops should reveal any part of the body that is deemed discrete at any time.
Footwear has been a growing concern for reasons of safety. Children are allowed to wear sandals if there is a secured strap for the heel. Flip flops are not secured to the heel; therefore, they create a safety concern and are disallowed.
Summer garments will be allowed. Please help us to allow our children to dress more comfortably while maintaining an appropriate learning environment. Thank you for helping us to address the summer time needs.
Get the Point
State law dictates that all students must be immunized to attend school. Before entering sixth grade, we must have documented evidence of the following vaccines: Tdap; Menactra, and Varicella. With the exception of Varicella, it is imperative that these vaccines are given after the age of ten.
Be sure to double check on your child’s status with your doctor or Dubois County Health Department.
2012-13 Registration
Tuesday, July 31 from 4:00-6:30 will be our registration day for the 2012-13 school year. Please mark your calendars. Traditionally there will be a reminder in the Herald’s “Back to School” issue in July.
